Our Story
Chelo – Taste of Persia was founded in September 2020 by Executive Chef Saeed and his son, Misagh, with a simple vision: bring the authentic flavors of Persian cuisine to Los Angeles in a fresh, approachable, fast-casual setting.
After more than 30 years in the culinary and catering industry, Chef Saeed wanted to share the recipes, techniques, and flavors he had perfected throughout his career—without the formality or high prices often associated with a traditional dining experience. Together, father and son created Chelo: a family-owned Persian and Mediterranean restaurant built around quality food, generous hospitality, and recipes made with care.
Our kitchen takes pride in making food from scratch. From our freshly baked house-made pita and naan to our yogurt, marinades, rice, sauces, and kabobs, we believe the difference is in the details. Our meats are 100% halal, and we carefully select fresh, quality ingredients for everything we serve.
Chef Saeed also brought decades of catering experience to Chelo, allowing us to offer everything from everyday meals and office lunches to weddings, private celebrations, and full-service catered events.
At Chelo, we're not trying to reinvent Persian food. We're sharing the food and flavors our family knows and loves—and making them accessible for everyone to enjoy.

CONCEPT
At the heart of our menu are Persian-style kabobs, grilled fresh and served alongside fragrant basmati rice, fresh salads, house-made hummus, yogurt, Mediterranean-inspired sides, and more.
One of the things that makes the Chelo experience special is our bread. Our naan and pita are made from fresh dough and baked to order in our spinning oven, so warm, freshly baked bread arrives with your meal—not something pulled from a package.
By blending traditional Persian recipes with Mediterranean favorites and a modern counter-service experience, Chelo makes it easy to enjoy fresh, flavorful food whether you're stopping in for lunch, feeding the family, ordering takeout, or catering an event.

Our vision is simple: to share the food, flavors, and hospitality of Persian culture with communities across America.
Persian cuisine is built around fresh ingredients, vibrant herbs, flavorful spices, grilled meats, rice, vegetables, and recipes that have been passed down through generations.
At Chelo – Taste of Persia, we want to introduce more people to this incredible cuisine while making it approachable, convenient, and enjoyable for everyone.
The Mastoory family founded Chelo with a vision that extends far beyond a single restaurant. Our goal is to grow Chelo into one of the nation’s leading Persian restaurant brands while staying true to the authenticity, quality, and family values that started it all.
As we grow, we hope to introduce communities across the country not only to Persian food, but also to the warmth, hospitality, and culture behind it.
Our goal is bigger than serving great Persian food. We want to help bring Persian cuisine into the American mainstream—one Chelo at a time.
